Making yourself understood in a different language is a great feeling but don’t expect this ability to happen overnight. Learning the new language might seem simple but if you have a lackadaisical attitude towards it, you are going to have a very hard time. If speaking Spanish is your ambition, there are various ways in which you can go about it: firstly, colleges and universities offer Spanish language classes thinking that it might be very beneficial for the students, and actually it is. There is no need for you to join a class with a large number of young people if you feel uncomfortable - just enrol in an adult language class. As per my understanding there are various crash courses, which are offered by school during summer breaks.

Some corporate houses also offer courses, which enable you to speak Spanish, and these companies also offer you a job soon after finishing the program. In case you do not have any time, many bookshops sell dictionaries, which can also help you learn the language. Lots of self-help books are also available where there are lots of sentences in Spanish with their English translations appearing at the bottom. Free tutorials are there for you to take help from which are available on the net from Google and Yahoo. Learning a language not only involves speaking and reading all by your self, though speaking Spanish is comparatively easier since it is more phonetic. Web casts and pod casts today help you listen to the language via the Internet and some sites even allow you to download it, so just type and you can learn.
But, it is much easier to learn if you really listen, don’t just go with the books as there are songs and movies and telenovelas you can always listen or watch. Pictures are a great help since when you learn a Spanish word, you remember it better when you know what it appears like. If money and time permits, take off and visit the land where the language is spoken by every one. Once you get closer to the people, their culture and ethos, you would be speaking Spanish in the quickest possible way.
Just remember never to put too much pressure on your self, as it would only delay your learning process. When one is in a Spanish speaking country, one cannot help but try to copy the accent and way of talking of the natives. It’s a big no-no and you will just sound funny if you do that but do not be afraid of making mistakes because when you are a beginner, what do you expect? Never stop your learning process just because you made some mistakes, as this is the only way one learns, so go ahead, learn and have good fun while doing so and best of luck.
